Welcome to Matt Morris Online, a site dedicated to the promising young Cardinals pitcher in addition to providing general Cardinals content. In 1997, after spending two years in the minor leagues, Morris, at 22 years old, was handed the opportunity of a lifetime--the chance to pitch in the major leagues. And that he did. With Cardinals starters Andy Benes and Danny Jackson out with injuries, Morris provided the Cardinals with exactly what they needed...a dominant starter. After pitching an impressive rookie season, Morris was sidelined part of 1998 due to a strained right shoulder and all of 1999 after having Tommy John elbow surgery. In late May of the 2000 season, he made his comeback, and in 2001, Morris once again made his way back to the starting rotation, where he continues to be a residing force on the National League Central's top team.
